Birdwatchers have to be wary of weather
Oklahoma Mesonet reported 0.28 inches of precipitation over the past week.
Payne County rare birds for the same period reported an ongoing first-cycle Slatybacked Gull at Boomer Lake, an early Fish Crow at both Stillwater Landfill and Yost Lake, and Common Goldeneye x Hooded Merganser hybrid at Sanborn Lake.
The nationwide rare/ vagrant birds include the continuing pair of Eurasian Sparrowhawks from Alaska, Northern Lapwings in New York and Massachusetts, and Mottled Owl, Brown Jay, and Yellow-headed Caracara from Texas.
The Province of Quebec noted Spotted Towhee, while Texas observed Crimson-collared Grosbeak, and Rufous- backed Robin.
Iowa added Crested Caracara. That is all.
A second winter Shortbilled (Mew) Gull was located at Lake Yahola and Sandhill Crane was found at Fort Smith, Arkansas.

Mourning Dove, Ringbilled Gull, American Herring Gull, Pied-billed Grebe, Double- crested Cormorant, Blue Jay, American Crow, Carolina Chickadee, European Starling, House, Savannah, and Song Sparrows, Red-shouldered Hawk, Killdeer, Carolina Wren, Redhead, Northern Harrier, Bald Eagle, American Robin, Red-tailed Hawk, Northern Flicker, Cedar Waxwing, House Finch, Northern Pintail, American Coot (red-shielded), Black Vulture, Downy Woodpecker, American Kestrel, Eastern Phoebe, Tufted Titmouse, Red-winged Blackbird, Brown-headed Cowbird, owl sp., Lesser Scaup, Lesser Black-backed and Slaty-backed Gulls, domestic Mallard, Common Goldeneye, Bonaparte’s Gull, Red-bellied Woodpecker, yellow-shafted Northern Flicker, new world sparrow sp., White-breasted Nuthatch, Hooded Merganser, and Belted Kingfisher.
Lake Carl Blackwell tagged red-shafted Northern Flicker, American Kestrel, Wild Turkey, Green-winged Teal, and American Pipit.
Sanborn Lake called Hooded Merganser, Golden-crowned Kinglet, Brown Creeper, White-throated, Harris’s, and Fox Sparrows, Eastern Meadowlark, Common Goldeneye x Hooded Merganser hybrid, Red-bellied Woodpecker, American Goldfinch, and Dark-eyed Junco.
The Botanic Garden at Oklahoma State University checked Barred Owl, Yellow- bellied Sapsucker, and Red-headed Woodpecker.
Teal Ridge Wetland shared Northern Shoveler.
Boomer Lake Park—Heron Cove called out Common Merganser.
